File this under how do you like them apples. I went to see a dietician on Monday, as Im sure most of you are aware I am concerned about my weight gain. She wholeheartedly agreed that I was doing mostly everything right with my diet and apart from tweaking a couple of small things there was very little else I could do to improve it. Then, the subject of my diabetes control came up, and I mentioned that I was on the drug Piaglitazone, and had been for approximately the last five years. She began shaking her head and asked if this would coincide with my increase in weight gain. I thought about it a while, and came to the conclusion that this was indeed possible. Apparently this drug, created to combat Type II diabetes, is notorious for causing weight gain, which is the main cause of type II diabetes. So to get this perfectly straight, an increase in weight gain gets me put on a drug to combat my diabetes, which causes me to put on weight, which makes my diabetes more difficult to control, but thats okay, because Im on a drug to combat my diabetes and its only side effect is to cause me to put on weight, which makes my diabetes more difficult to control, but thats okay because Im on a drug…………… My new Doctor has, needless to say, changed my prescription for a new drug that has weight loss as a side-effect. You couldnt make this crap up.
