Final posting. Today is the last day of our fundraising campaign. There is a word in yiddish that defines who Vic and Michael were. Mensch. Literal translation. “Integrity and honor” This describes their character. These words do not reveal their being. Both men brought culture to Long Island that was normally exclusive to the big city. Equally as important they were devoted to our community and were friends with each of us as individuals. “Cool intellectuality delivered with warmth” is how I would describe them. These are the reasons I am passioned about producing this film. Hundreds of hours of work are still needed to complete our documentary. Most of our interviews have been filmed. Just a few video shoots remaining. We still have extensive research, archiving, logging dozens of hours of film that was shot, editing and graphics. Producing a documentary is a collaborative effort. There is a smart, technical and creative team that I work with. Many of them come with expensive gear. You’ve seen the credits and the list of people at the conclusion of a documentary or film. So now is the time to contribute please. Know that you were someone who was an integral part of getting this worthwhile film completed. You’ll own the knowledge in both your heart and mind. Together, let’s honor the legacy of Vic and Michael. Together, let’s support all the good that the arts does for community.
