Finally, after showing various stages of this diorama, here is the finished piece. It is simply -- and emotionally -- entitled .... WOMAN A baby girl. A mother. And a grandmother. ... and many who came before.... What a precious thing new life can be! And how it changes those who are touched by it. The baby arouses feelings of wonder and hope, and a growing maturity in those who gave her life. The mother has stepped onto a new and significant part of her path, and now shares the experience of giving birth with her mother. It will be the basis of shifts in the relationship between the two women. The grandmother, with her travelling cape which also serves as shawl of wisdom, embodies the accumulated experiences and insights of previous generations of women, tempered and softened by the learnings of her own journey. The girl child, the mother, and the grandmother together complete a triquetra where the parts are intricately interwoven, each supporting and each contributing to the growth of the beautiful whole. They have emerged from a rich lineage, and are seeding a hope-full future.
