First, let me say congrats to all those that just passed their entry-level tests & those that upgraded.. You are now part of a hobby where there is help around every corner..There is NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION! Yes,there are those out there who will give you some kind of grief, but most are willing to help as much as they can... Ive been a ham for 27 years and I dont know everything about this hobby. If theres something you dont understand, ASK QUESTIONS, pick up a book, do some Google research or even Youtube..You are not alone... Have a problem with that new HF multi-band dipole?? Not receiving like you expected? not high enough, bad SWR, feedline problem? just ask your fellow hams. I cant tell you how many times Ive strung up dipoles, taken them down & moved them only to put them back in their original spot.....listen to their suggestions, analyze everything, then just do it. Some might even be off the wall suggestions but they work... But to all you NEW hams you must remember these 2 words, SAFETY FIRST!! Dont try to string that new 160 meter dipole over the power lines to your neighbors house because thats the only place you can put it.. Dont erect your new 100 foot free-standing tower 50 feet from the power pole in your yard..Dont stick your hands inside any energized equipment unless you KNOW what youre doing(personal experience)!! THE most dangerous thing in this hobby is electricity, its NOT to be screwed around with! Yes, there are some here that have done things in the hobby without thinking it through first.
