Fitness has no age. Strength = function. Strong bones, ligaments, and joints are essential for health. Here my client Barbara is warming up her deadlifts. Why deadlifts? Its a movement we do everyday. She picks up groceries, dog food, moves furniture etc. It strengthens her entire body, as well as developing grip strength. Deadlifting is great for rehabilitative and preventative purposes and is the most effective exercise for building the core strength (because of the stabilization involved with heavy weight). Just make sure you do these with proper form. See a professional if you need help. Barbara told me that on vacation last week she was able to carry her own bags through the airport. When her husband offered to help she told him I can do it myself! Ryan made me strong!. She also is excited that she can open jars and water bottles on her own too. As a side note, its funny to see the other gym members faces when they see some big muscle bound tatted up trainer helping a 70 year old women on deadlift form.
