Fixing a broken toe on a Great Dane today.Normally we can just bandage these with a splint for 6 weeks and they heal.This dog was so big we could not reduce the fracture( ie re-align the broken pieces of bone into the normal anatomical position) so I had to open it up surgically and fix it with a plate and screws .It went very well. She is a lovely.The first radiograph shows the broken toe and the next two show the repair from two different angles.
