Flashback Friday :) 16 years old , Steeplechase Pier , Atlantic City NJ . I was part of a great crew on the pier working at what would be the first of four Himilayas that I worked on between Atlantic City NJ & Wildwood . We did it all , from Building & Maintaining the rides to Mic Man and DJing live .. These rides took on a life of their own no matter where they were and the Himalaya on a Pier was usually THE Party spot on the Pier. Its a shame now that most of the music rides like this around the country use a taped voice & music now. A good DJ can get hold a crowd and make you WANT to be a part of whats happening . We went forwards & Backwards and could jump on & off full speed both ways , people used to come just to watch us and to this day they still remember . Thanks Thomas Trovato , my teacher and Jim Schilling the 1st Himalaya DJ/operator that I looked up to , I was 14 then and wanted his job so bad that when I was 15 I lied about my age and became part of the crew. The people I worked with on the Piers in AC & Wildwood are still a big part of my life to this day and the Himalaya is still in my blood .
