Florida Atlantic University invites applications for the position of Director of Sponsored Programs The Director of Sponsored Programs supervises the daily operations of the Sponsored Programs Office and is responsible for all activities pertaining to University and University-related research pre-award, post-award, close-out and contract negotiation administration. As a senior executive within the leadership team of the Vice President for Research, the Director of Sponsored Programs will serve as an expert and leader in the delivery of research administration services and programs that positively impact research programs across the University. This position promotes the Universitys efforts in sponsored research, teaching, and public service activities. The incumbent advises the Vice President for Research on planning, organizing and directing the development and implementation of University and University-related policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and University rules and regulations. In addition, he/she will advise the Vice President for Research on the administrative management of the University and University-related research funds. The Director of Sponsored Programs also handles special projects and other duties as assigned by Vice President for Research. The incumbent will plan and develop workshops and other institution-wide training sessions regarding institutional and granting agency required research policies and procedures. He/She will maintain the Divisions Sponsored Programs website and possesses an in-depth knowledge of the current e-verify, e-customs, and export control requirements. Florida Atlantic University, founded in 1961, is currently serving more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in southeast Florida. Qualifications include: Masters degree and six years or more of related experience; or a Bachelors degree and a minimum of eight years or more of related experience is required. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position. Upper-level pre-award administration management experience in a public university or in a non-profit environment is preferred. Supervisory experience is also required. Must have experience directly administering federal grants. The ideal candidate possesses an in-depth knowledge of Electronic Research Administration such as GrantsERA, Grants.gov, Fastlane, etc., as well as a working knowledge of Workday or other comparable financial accounting system. In addition, the incumbent will possess a strong ability to mentor and provide supervisory oversight and evaluation of staff at various levels and demonstrates a proven ability to implement/promote/expand a customer service orientation of the office. Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills plus the ability to team build. Demonstrated ability to network and consensus build with internal and external stakeholders are a must. In addition, the incumbent will possess a strong ability to mentor and provide supervisory oversight and evaluation of staff at various levels and demonstrates a proven ability to implement/promote/expand a customer service orientation of the office. Knowledge of areas such as (but not limited to) OMB Circulars, IRB, IACUC, FCOI and export control is desirable. Certified Research Administrator Certification is preferred, and must be active in one or more related professional organizations.
