For all of my friends that arent on any of the main dog rescue boards recently, there has been a spate of dog snatchings and attempted snatchings including quite a lot of violence used against the owners, this has included thefts from outside shops, home burglaries and snatching from people walking their dogs. Please make sure your dog is chipped, that the details are up to date, that you have a plan for what to do if your dog goes missing so you dont panic and can act quickly and also take a rape alarm, phone etc. with you when out with your dog. If you notice anything suspicious get descriptions, reg numbers etc. and report to police and local dog FB pages. Particular reports suggest 2 males in a white van, there have been incidents in Levenshulme, Rochdale and Leicestershire in the past couple of weeks although not clear if theyre related. Also please think twice about leaving your dog tied up outside shops even if you can see them, it takes two seconds for a van to pull up and throw your dog inside and its too late to regret it later on, some reports suggest vans driving with concealed plates.
