For better or for worse, our children see themselves reflected in our eyes. When we perpetually criticize or constantly make helpful suggestions about how they could do or be better, they may believe that theyre never quite good enough. Theres nothing wrong with encouraging our kids to stretch and grow--to try harder, to do their best--but make sure its balanced with an awareness that we see them as lovable, whole and perfect, just as they are...right now.
