For folks who are freaking out about the FB messenger app - YOU HAVE ALREADY DRANK THE KOOL-AID! FACT: The Messenger App doesnt ask for much more than you have already given your current FB app - whose Terms of Agreement you probably have failed to read because youre lazy. FACT: Your IOS phones dont require the same overarching terms that have been used to scare you that have been shared by Android users. Android phones require a broad and general language because they dont allow developers to use their own language that would be more accurate to their needs. FACT: The apparent intrusive asks are the LEGITIMATE permissions to use your phone’s microphone and camera for voice calling and video and picture messaging. The app can only edit/receive/send or read SMS messages so it can confirm that you’ve added a phone number to your Facebook account via an SMS confirmation code. It needs to be able to make calls so you can call a Messenger contact straight from the app, and it also needs to read your contacts if you choose to add your phone contacts to your Messenger app. FACT: On ANDROIDS you have to agree to all of these permissions up front (an ANDROID rule not Facebooks) but on IOS phones the app asks of your permission WHEN you begin to use certain features of the app. If you NEVER use those features you will NEVER give those permissions. I dont make phone calls on the app, therefore, the app cannot access my phone in that way nor my microphone. FACT: If you use other Messenger apps or any other Social Media Sharing Apps, you have probably ALREADY given up all this information that you believe FB (of FBI) want to have. Just go back and read all the TOA for EVERY app you have installed and see for yourselves. My phone is packed with 100+ apps. Somebody knows all my shit already! FACT: If you are afraid of hackers accessing your phone, the government spying on you, the illuminati, or whoever the hell it is chasing you - you have provided more info on your life and activities on IG and Twitter already. RELAX, your name isnt Barack Obama! Of the 1,000,000,000+ people who use this app, who the hell are you?! Xoloft may be a better option for you than deleting your apps. LOL FACT: If you plan on being an enemy of the state, a terrorist, an anarchist, a revolutionary, a criminal, an assassin, a bankrobber, a kingpen, etc. You should probably not be on Social Media PERIOD.
