For our 11th day of Christmas we have Mr Duncan. Ohhhh Duncan you were the humpty dumpty we put back together again and again. Duncan sat for a week at the shelter after being hit by a car. We took him to VCA and carried him in leg dangling. Even though he must have been in terrible pain, he had lots of kisses for the staff. So after some major orthopedic surgery, Dr Todd had him all back together. Well apparebtly Duncan did not get the message this was for his own good. Seems as we would fix him up with some contraption of rods and pins and such he would disassemble it. Cast, splints nothing lasted. So poor Duncan actually had to live at the vets office so that they could monitor him and keep the apparatuses repaired. In the end it was all worth it and he is a happy, health boy full of wiggles and kisses for everyone he meets. Duncan was recently adopted to a wonderful home. His adopting fee was 150.00. I stopped keeping track of his bills after we hit $2000.00 because sometimes its less depressing that way lol. Duncan is a prime example of why fundraising is so important. Its very rare that our adoption fee is more than our vet bills. In most cases its drastically the other way. We dont want to turn dogs away due to the cost of medical care so we must fundraise.
