For some reasons some friends thought I was around recently and rushed to my compound to visit me in my village home. When they got there the small gate was open and they went in without seeing any security guard. They were surprised because they knew I employed two Hausa men to guard there round the clock and kept calling out to the security men without any response . They walked the length and breadth of the compound without anyone challenging them. One tried my Nigerian number but it was not going through so he called my UK number , got me and enquired where my guards were and if they had ran back to the north. I was so angry that these two vibrant Hausa chaps could abandon their work and disappear leaving my compound unguarded so I called my PA to find out what was going on. After his investigation he found out that while one was somewhere in the neighbourhood chatting another was inside the security house , saw when these men came in but did not speak to them. Why did he not stop them I asked . I was told that he was upset that these men were saying where is aboki, where is aboki that he decided not to respond and allowed them traverse the whole compound unchallenged. I dawned on me that I may have employed a mumu to guard my compound. Because they called him aboki he got upset and allowed strangers to wander around where he is meant to secure. I thought of sacking him immediately but at some point I relaxed after realising that many of them from where he comes from may actually reason in that moronic manner. Na wah maybe one day thieves may show up, call him aboki and he will get upset and watch them break into the properties therein unchallenged. I am still unsure of how to approach this predicament!!!!
