For the first time in many years, Monrovia streets and down town - TopicsExpress

For the first time in many years, Monrovia streets and down town Monrovia itself are full of order and civility today relative to vehicular and pedestrian movements. Motorcyclists beginning today are off and hope the police will be courageous to keep them off the no-go zone for motor bikes as they did during the operation that enforced the 10 PM curfew for them. These are the no-go zones: Redlight to Broad Street, Redlight to Freeport using the Freeway (Somalia Drive) and Duala to Broad Street routes. Today, one can freely walk in the crosswalks at traffic lights without being knocked down or insulted by bike operators only because they do not want to wait for the “GO SIGNAL. I do agree with the Police that they use the feeder roads and personally, if they see this regulation as counter productive, I, like many Liberians equally see it as hazardous and counter productive if we fail to uphold this regulation for motorcyclists. If they can’t use the feeder roads, then let them forget it. Like the 10 PM curfew for motorcyclists (though there were doubts over it) this one will hold again. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH my fellow countrymen as public safety surpasses all reasons given for not supporting the regulation.
