For the first time in my short history as a hockey parent I completely lost my mind at a set of parents (fans) from away at the tournament. There was about 50 of them and they were extremely disrespectful the whole game. Even when their team scored their 9th goal they cheered as of it was their first. I could see Judes shoulders drop and head go down as he stared up into the stands. What pushed me over the edge was when one of our players got hurt from a stick blow to the head. He was face down and the play had stopped. The rink was quiet as we waited for him to get up. When he did get up, we all clapped and cheered because that is what you do when a player is okay , no matter what team they are on. That entire group of parents never clapped, never cheered, nothing. Just sat there with smug looks on their faces - all of them. So, I stood up, walked to about 15 feet away from and reminded the entire group of them (in my rink voice uh-oh) that when a kid gets hurt you are supposed to clap when they are okay and that they should be ashamed of themselves....Yes, I lost my cool and perhaps I shouldnt have but my boys team are just as much my kids and I couldnt believe their lack of respect throughout the entire game. They are only 9 and this is just a game! #sosueme #myboysandbella #igoturback
