For the third year in a row, members of Turner’s New York office partnered with High School of Design and Construction students and put their collective creativity and ingenuity to the test at the Iron Designer Challenge. Using pre-specified materials – PVC pipe, zip ties, tape – and one surprise material announced on the day of the competition, teams collaborate and compete with each other to build the best structure in answer to a given theme. This year’s theme: transformation. The team devised a structure that would transform – fold and pivot – from a double tower to a single one in homage to the two towers of the World Trade Center, now replaced by One World Trade Center
