For those who do not already know, Sarah and I welcomed a new member to our family last week (on St. Patricks Day). Linden Sigrid Marie Prom was born on March 17th, at 7:37 am, 4 lbs 13 oz. She was born at 32 weeks, 2 weeks ahead of her planned c - section. Linden was diagnosed with Spina Bifida the day after Christmas, days after her 20 week ultrasound. My little familys life has been a blur since. Sarah and Linden were accepted to have a relatively new procedure at Mayo Clinic in Rochester where they would operate and close the opening on Lindens back while she was still in the uterus. The surgery took place on January 27th. Although the surgery went well overall the membranes of Sarahs uterus did not completely seal resulting in leaking and low amniotic fluid for the remainder of the pregnancy. This also meant that Sarah was required to stay on bed rest at Mayo. 7 weeks passed as Linden healed and grew in the womb. The plan was for this to continue until March 28th, but Linden had her own plans! Our little girl is proving to be a tiny miracle as she has impressed everyone with how well she is doing. She is in the NICU at Mayo and will continue to be for a few more weeks until she can prove she can grow and eat without medical assistance. Her prenatal surgery has proved to be a resounding success so far as well. It has been a LONG and very trying time for Sarah, myself, and our little man, Connor. We all anxiously await the day we will be a family, all under one roof again. To all our family and friends who have been so incredibly supportive and helpful throughout, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
