For we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. So whether we are in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please Him. For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. - 2 Corinthians 5: 6-10 Facing the unknown may cause us anxiety, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, we can have that great hope and confidence of eternal life with Christ. Death is only a prelude to eternal life with God. We will continue to live. Let this hope give us confidence and inspire us to faithful service to God. While eternal life is a free gift given on the basis of Gods grace, each of us will still be judged by Christ. He will reward us for how we lived. Everyone will give an account on judgment day. But Gods gracious gift of salvation does not free us from the requirement of faithful obedience. Faith and obedience that is based on His death and resurrection.
