For your consideration: I find this fascinating...a Nick Cave documentary...20,000 Days on Earth https://youtube/watch?v=Ap0_y5EGttk#t=42 Lets face it, the elements of documentary filmmaking were established decades ago and really have not changed much subsequently...Historical shots and footage intercut with talking head interviews...typically in front of a bookcase. This sort of thing reaches its crown of creation with Burnss Roosevelts...And within the limits of its own framework it is technically impressive but by any measure of creativity, thuddingly pedestrian. The Cave doc undermines the antique conventions of documentary filmmaking. The interviews are conducted in real personal space but they are dressed like a feature film. Also, they make use of conversations in cars...I have long thought car interiors to be one of the most private and intimate of venues available in the modern world. Anyways, I find this approach totally engaging...See you at the theater when its in town!!
