Forgot to say, went and tested out the Pioneer PLX 1000 yesterday - TopicsExpress

Forgot to say, went and tested out the Pioneer PLX 1000 yesterday on a quick break from the spreadsheets.. Heres my own thoughts on it for those who might want to read on... Pitch is generally really good, nice and tight on how it holds timing but the sliders a little slippy (but really not so bad at all and def felt comfortable using it). The major downside for me was how the platter handles weight/force and reacts from being held still (ie when youre waiting to let go on the first beat and start mixing), it seems to lag for a good 16 bars or a little more until it regains itself to the finely tuned pitch you managed to previously set just before getting ready to take the record right back to the top and start mixing it in (it seems to really throw itself off-time for a bit and seems slow gaining momentum in getting back to how it was set - this for me was a bit of a set back). My own opinion of course. Id give a perfect condition Technics a 10 out of 10 VS giving one of these an 8 at best. Id call it a suitable (and needed) replacement for the still untouched 1210 but not one that blew me away at all. If by some kind of miracle Technics were to be put back into production these Pioneers wouldnt get a look in but with how things stand over time these decks will undoubtedly become the industry standard in house deck / turntable.
