Found this very interesting! It was always a struggle getting dogs to give up resources at other kennels, whether it was food a bone, come inside from play. Listen when they called back from a potential incident. Why? We were takers. All wed been told to do, as our job, was give a small time slot of attention, outside play. Then wed take it all away fifteen minutes later. Potentially hours before they were rewarded again. They learned we were just takers of this precious resource, play. Here Im a giver! And its NEVER been an issue. Some are more stubborn on their first day, but give em a few more rounds and they realize, I give more then I take! How come it is so easy for me to take away such a coveted resource from my dogs? Never have they challenged me or tried to bite my hand when I got near their goodies. They also dont run away when I approach to take something they shouldnt have in the first place. If I approach the dog bowl they lift their heads eagerly wondering what else might be in store. I dont have any special dog powers but I do understand how they think. The answer as to why my dogs regard me with no hesitation when I come toward their stuff is because they dont see me as a threat to their loot.
