Francis Marvin Toups, 89, died in Gulf Breeze, Florida Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014. His loved ones were very close to him, and with him, during the time of both his illness and death. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the St. Anne Patio Mausoleum in Holy Savior Cemetery. He is survived by his grandchildren, Joseph Francis Toups, Benjamin Pierre Toups and Rebecca Jane Toups; great-grandchild, Skyla Jane Toups; step-great-grandchild, Aurora Gail Kraemer; brother, Emile J Toups; son-in-law, Danny J Griffin; and a dear friend, Marilyn Manning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Francis Toups and Cecelia Marvyl Cloutier, of Lockport; first wife, Ethel Marie Breaux Toups; son, Terrill Francis Toups; daughter, Susan Marie Toups Griffin; and granddaughter, Sara Mareve Toups. Francis was a graduate of Lockport High School and of Louisiana State University where he earned a degree in agriculture. He was once employed by Eastern Airlines, Lafourche Parish School Board, Raceland Bank and Trust, Valentine Sugars, Bollinger and Boyd Boats, Bourg Mud and Chemical, Valentine Pulp and Paper and Lakeside Farms, Inc. Francis served in the Pacific as with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was very active in the communities in which he lived, and was either a current, or a past member of: the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League, Lions Club, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, New Orleans Power Squadron, Lockport Volunteer Fire Department and the Boy Scouts of America. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to any charity. -
