Frank Hapke Test Drives 2 x HK AUDIOs Lucas NANO 300 at a Harvest Festival in Dorsten, Yachting-Clubs, GOlf Clubs and as best active monitors systems on stage in combination with fullrange HK Audio PA-Systems for professional use : Today Our band already uses 2x NANO system as a powered monitor. When it comes to transparency and punch, especially for speech, we have yet to hear a monitoring ......system thats better in combination with our large HK Lucas Alpha PA. l bought a second NANO 300 system for solo performances such as yesterdays harvest festival and indoor tea dances. It certainly won me over. I chose it after plenty of live tests and hearing it in direct comparison with another HK Audio rig that is at least several times as expensive. Other live comparisons, one outdoors and one in a room holding 80 people, with the same T4 Yamaha BIG-Tyros keyboard, vocals and EQ settings as with the BOSE 11 fully convinced me that the research HK Audio put into the NANO technology produced a very efficient, small, affordable and portable system, two of which fit on the passenger seat next to me. Yesterday at the harvest festival I was a bit too loud at times and guests at the concession stand about 50 meters away politely complained, asking if I could turn it down and where I had hidden the system. (The satellites are not equipped with HF horns. To extend the systems reach for outdoor events, it is a good idea to boost the upper midrange and treble frequencies as well as the bass frequencies a little more than you would for indoor gigs. All this is very easy to do on the T4.) I connected the mic to the keyboards Vocalist input and then plugged straight into the NANO System without using a mixer. Ive never enjoyed such excellent speech intelligibility with minimal equipment, which is exactly what I wanted for this event. Musicians in the audience kept nosing around looking for a mixer. I bought the NANO particle accelerator from my dealer of choice. However, to be fair and objective, if you want to cover greater distances of 100 to 200 meters and pack a really powerful punch, theres no doubt that a system equipped with 2 horns and 18 bass bins comes highly recommended. But what are we talking about here? We’re talking about minimal equipment with maximum efficiency at a low-budget price, and as far as Im concerned, NANO cant be beat for that. Ive had my big system, which we used for sound reinforcement at street festivals and in the Essen Grugahalle, down in the cellar for years. The first gig with two HK Audio Lucas 300 systems was a success, and they left a very good impression. Id recommended this setup highly for solo entertainers, duos and possibly even trios. There are, of course, other systems such as the Bose 11, MAUI and many others. I was fortunate enough to be able to do some extensive testing - and this was the decisive factor for me - under very different acoustical conditions (outdoors, indoors and in direct comparison with several systems) before making my decision. And it was clearly in favor of the HK Audio Lucas NANO 300. Everything is going to be alright. Frank Hapke is in no way affiliated with HK Audio. Check it out frankhapke.de/news/
