Fred Wright In response to a dear Christian lady that I have known since she was about 6 or 7 and her post on how halloween was just a fun day with many agreeing with her post, I had to say something or bust... First of all I said, it is easy to get a lot of people to agree with you when you compromise with the world. And to the lady who said this is not a pagan holiday, well she has not spent enough time researching it. And the greatest danger today is the compromising church. Now that I have said, probably too much, let me say this, we open our doors every year to children and their parents in order to hand out tracks and candy. We do not faint or regress when this unholy eve comes around each year, but we also teach our grandchildren the truth about this pagan holiday and that dressing up like witches, ghosts, or goblins is incompatible with a Christians testimony. Furthermore, many of the customs of Halloween are associated with the worst kinds of pagan beliefs and ceremonies which I won’t take up you time listing. But I will say this, if we as Christian parents simply disregard the unchristian aspects of such practices as mere fantasy or superstition and then encourage our children to participate in them, we run the risk of communicating the message that the spiritual battle waged by the rulers of darkness (Ephesians 6:10) is not to be taken seriously. Now I know I have already lost most of you and that can be expected in today emergent church culture. Please be safe and please take advantage of a great opportunity to share Christ with those who come to your door....
