Friday 26th December 2014 Marton Country Club Soul, Marton Road, Middlesbrough. As aiways a fantastic venue. Huge rectangular dance flair an loads o seatin. Huge bar at the top o the hall that wis extremely busy throughout. The Marton Hotel & Country Club dates back tae the early 1900′s. It wis formerly a Victorian House standin impressively in its ain grounds. It later became The Captain Cook Private Members Club. The Hotel is yin o the best known Hotels oan Teesside an is a popular choice for weddings, Northern Soul nights, conferences, professional wrestling, dinners an party nights featuring fun performers. As well as being a hotel that offers ower 50 bedrooms, all with private cludgies, also oan offer is a restaurant which caters tae aw diets an entertainment nights wi live music. The North Ormesby Drifters appeared last summer an Showaddywaddy are back by popular demand in the spring. The Hotel is jist a few miles fae the centre o Middlesbrough an is perfectly located for aw major road links. There are numerous places o interest easily accessible fae the Hotel including: The Captain Cook Trail, Middlesborough Toon Centre, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire Moors, ‘Heartbeat Country’, The Riverside Stadium, Tees Transporter Bridge, Redcar, Saltburn, The Middlesbrough Institute O Modern Art an historical Whitby. Aw DJs were local tae the Boro an they played some great sounds. Quite a few non-soulies in an on the whole they hud a guid time. Unfortunately there were a few trumpets an at yin stage it looked yet again as if some were goin for the title o “Trumpet o the Year”. Some major contenders an every toon hus its village idiot, but ah think a few toons were missin theirs Boxing Day night as they were aw in the Marton Country Club. Some took drinks ontae the dance flair an spilled them, which put parts o the dance flair oot o action for a while. Bad show. Normal routine wis followed an regular readers o this column will ken it. Here it is again for aw new readers: 1. A few frantic dance moves 2. Oot o control spins 3. A roll aboot the flair 4. Gie up at tryin tae be centre o attention an retire tae the bar for mair liquid laughter 5. Huve another go later oan at bein centre o attention, following same agenda as above, an make a complete James Hunt o yersel. Yin o the trumpets slipped in the spilt drink whilst dancing wi a traffic cone warnin aboot the spilled drink and wis kicked in the heid by another trumpet attempting a Teesside Shuffle. He wis awright as it wis only his heid. The lights were oan, but naebody wis in. Track o the night, Wade Flemons “Jeanette”. Apart fae the village idiots, top night. ktf https://youtube/watch?v=EInlgYRoQ3Q
