Friends and Families: Tonight we close another chapter in the Mighty Ninth history. The remaining battalions of the Spartan Brigade, 3-7 CAV, 26 BSB, 2-3 BTB, and the Battlekings cased our color this morning, signifying the completion of our inactivation. Not an end, as we will reactivate later this year as a light artillery battalion when our sister battalion from 4th IBCT, 1-76 FA Battalion reflags as 1-9 FA. It has been my distinct honor and privilege to have served amongst true Kings, the men and women of our beloved Battlekings. Every accomplishment, accolade, and honor earned by the battalion was because of the dedicated NCOs, Soldiers, and Officers of this fine organization. You exceeded every expectation and surpassed every standard set. Your legacy is without question. Today we cased our colors knowing that we provided lethal firing batteries to two of the three remaining battalions in DIVARTY, and provided the best FSC to the Raider Brigade. The Battalion Command Sergeant Major and I wish to give our undying respect and gratitude to those Battlekings past and present. It has been our honor to serve with each of you.
