Friends, let me make a very serious request - If you value the internet and the freedom of information it provides, you must be aware that the pending FCC proposal will create an internet where large companies can pay to have their sites prioritized in a tiered internet. What does this mean? For one, it will become much harder for small-scale websites, apps, and businesses to prosper. But more importantly, ISPs will become internet gatekeepers with financial leverage to essentially censor the internet. This seriously threatens online freedom of speech, alternative news, and anything that the mainstream might consider controversial which really means, not mainstream. This link has a really easy form for filling out a simple letter to the FCC. By law this legislation is up for public debate, so the more letters sent, the better. Lastly, we have to realize that once we give up neutrality and freedom of the internet, it will be nigh impossible to ever get it back again.
