From We Are Capitalists, thanks guys! ===BEING CLASSICALLY LIBERAL=== Many of you may already be fans of the page Being Classically Liberal. Recently, they published a new book entitled In Defense of Classical Liberalism - An Economic Analysis and sent us an advanced copy to review. Quite simply, we highly recommend it. Being Classically Liberal is one of the most responsible pages on Facebook in regards to citing their sources and proving their stances empirically. This book follows in that tradition of responsibility. Dont assume data was cherry picked to adhere to one biased narrative, either. This was a serious piece of academic research. For instance: • They cited work from economists Paul Krugman and Robin Wells regarding female employment. Krugman, as many of you know, would typically serve as a target of ridicule by those identifying as classically liberal. However, in this book, portions of his research were clearly taken seriously. If anything, this is a sign that the authors did not shy away from dissenting pieces of work. • In another chapter, they cite the use of the Rahn Curve to mathematically represent the optimal size of government. While uncomfortable for many free market advocates, because it does NOT indicate 0% government to be optimal, it confirms, never the less, that government is most optimal when limited in size. This is not an extreme position, but instead a measured, realistic, and professional one. • Lastly, to further confirm the authors dedication to unbiased truth seeking, I wanted to mention their choice of contributor. In several passages, they worked with Kevin Ryan from Unbiased America, an independent economic analyst dedicated to having facts dictate opinion. His work is unparalleled and his intellectual honesty is of the highest regard. Everybody at WAC highly recommends you consider reading it.
