From our friends at Vaqueros Del Mar: (Jim from their club came to our meeting to talk about a trip they do each year, and offer us the opportunity to join them.) The dive charter will be aboard the legendary Conception, Truth Aquatics’ premiere live-aboard. The trip will be September 21 – 23, 2014. We will board the boat in the Santa Barbara harbor on Saturday night, September 20, and return on Tuesday, September 23, at about 5 p.m. The cost of this 3-day live-aboard is $595. The price includes a nominal crew tip. This price is based on dividing the total cost by the number of divers, which has been a comfortable number of 20 to 30 in the past few years. We will only take a maximum of 30 divers. VDM does not make a profit on these trips – we price it to try to break even. This price is still better than you’ll find elsewhere. The plan this year is to dive the Northern Channel Islands. We hope to be able to dive San Miguel Island, the western-most in the Channel Island chain. When the conditions allow for it, the diving there is pristine and can be absolutely great. As in the past, we pre-assign the bunks to avoid the “bunk-rush” when we board the boat. Your bunk assignment will be based on when your payment check is received by me. The better bunks go to the earlier sign-ups. Couples will have first priority on the double bunks.
