Fry Town Site Update On Wednesday November 12, 2014 the Cochise - TopicsExpress

Fry Town Site Update On Wednesday November 12, 2014 the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office as well as Planning and Zoning and the Highway Department responded back to the Fry Town Site area as part of Phase III of the Fry Initiative. As a reminder, Phase I of this project was the Education of residents regarding vehicles not properly registered and/or parked in the public right-of-way. This process included having Sheriff’s Office and Planning and Zoning and Highway Department personnel travel through the area and identify any vehicles that were in violation as well as any outdoor storage violations that were observed. As a result of this phase there were 12 vehicles, 2 utility trailers, and one backhoe that was tagged for removal from the area along with 35+ citations issued for outdoor storage violations. Phase II of this project was to place dumpsters in the Fry Town Site area to allow the residents to dispose of some of the trash and debris causing the citations to be issued. This resulted in the Cochise County Solid Waste Department hauling away 4- 40 yd containers of stuff. Most large, bulky furniture. We would not have been able to make this phase happen at all without the invaluable assistance of Mr. David Horne, Solid Waste Director, and Supervisor Richard Searle, as well as Planning and Zoning Code Enforcement Officer Chris Saylor and Orlando Stevens from Cochise County Facilities. Phase III of this initiate was to enforce the removal of the tagged vehicles and check the status of the outdoor storage violations. All vehicles that were tagged for removal had been moved from the public rights of way and registered as required so no vehicles were towed from the scene. This project has made a positive impact in the community through the residents and County government interacting in order to move forward towards the ultimate goal of increased safety and security of our citizens. The next neighborhood meeting is being scheduled to discuss the progress made and future actions required. The meeting date/time will be released as soon as it is arranged. Sheriff Dannels said today, “We have worked hard as a combined group of residents, law enforcement, Planning and Zoning, County Highways, County Supervisors, and Solid Waste personnel to identify and help resolve issues that have been lingering for too long. Our goal is to make every effort to ensure the quality of life better for our citizens and strengthen our community and county government ties. We will continue in this effort and we hope for all of your support.”
