Fully Charged: Tesla’s Model X delayed, another classic Zelda being remade on 3DS, and the Nest Learning Thermostat gets even smarter Start your day off right with our quick-hit collection of top tech news TESLA’S MODEL X PUSHED DEEPER INTO 2015 If you’ve been saving your loose change for Tesla Motors’ long-awaited Model X electric crossover, you’ll have a bit longer to collect the funds. In an earnings report yesterday, Tesla admitted that the ride will miss its early 2015 target and instead start rolling off the assembly line later in the year. Telsa wants more time to make sure the larger EV is truly ready to please customers, says CEO Elon Musk, which means manufacturing a solid fleet’s worth to try and squash any issues or inconsistencies before launch. At least the delay is expected to allow Tesla to ramp up production capacity much more quickly than with the Model S in 2012. And since the N64 had lost most of its steam by late 2000 when the game debuted, many series fans may have never experienced it. Luckily, the long-rumoured Nintendo 3DS remake of Majora’s Mask was just announced by Nintendo yesterday, with a release expected in spring 2015. The Ocarina remake for 3DS was rather excellent, so we expect Majora’s Mask 3D to be just as essential for Zelda aficionados. And anyone else seeking a great 3DS game next year, since they tend to release at a trickle. [Source: Nintendo] NEST THERMOSTAT UPDATE ADDS FUNCTIONALITY Got a Nest Learning Thermostat in your home? Lucky you - and you’ll be even better off if you update to the new 4.3 software update. As the company outlined this week, the Auto-Schedule heating and cooling function has been enhanced to better adapt to your changes, which can save you up to 6% more on your bill. Even better, the new Quick View functionality makes it easier to get hold of crucial information, like the weather, humidity, and outdoor temperature, as well as details on energy consumption and what’s scheduled ahead. It’s all about making the brainy dial even smarter and easier to understand. It never really escaped that tag, even after six months of open beta and a longer closed beta before it, and now it never will. Electronic Arts announced this week that the free-to-play PC game will close before ever being formally released, with the beta set to last for another 90 days before the servers shut down. Anyone who spent money in the beta will have it refunded, and with that in mind, the total cost to EA here has to be immense. But they must have thought running it would prove even more costly over time. [Source: Dawngate]
