Fun bit of trivia for you guys: Omega Watches is the Official Timekeeper of Apollo 11 Even in space, we need (and want) to know what time it is. The crew of Apollo 11 wore Omega Speedmaster Professional watches during their historic mission. Seen in the images below famed moon walker, Buzz Aldrin, is showing off the 45th anniversary edition Speedmaster at a recent event at an Omega Watch Boutique. Buzz Aldrin has been working diligently to promote the 45th anniversary on the lunar landing that took place on July 20, 1969. He told us he wanted to start with the 45th anniversary to help younger generations realize the significance of this historic mission and what it meant (and still means) for space exploration, as well as help build momentum for a HUGE 50th anniversary in 2019. Buzz told the story of his trip to the Moon as well as explained how the watch played into it. Neil and Buzz both wore a Speedmaster in space but Neil took his off before stepping onto the lunar surface for fear something might happen to it. Buzz chose to wear his. Later on he donated the very watch he wore on the moon to the Smithsonian; however, the watch mysteriously disappeared and has not been seen since. NASA has the serial number but to this day the watch has never turned up. #Apollo45 #NextGiantLeap #OmegaWatches #TheUniverse Have you been missing out on our posts lately?
