Fundraising announcement message to all Tigray/Ethiopian community in Australia: Announcement: Hawzien Orphan Fundraiser Dear Supporters, It’s that time again to come along and support our beautiful Orphan children in Hawzien, Tigray. The project keeps getting bigger and bigger with 58 Orphans receiving assistance, and it is extremely successful. All Orphans go to school, have food to eat, are better clothed and can see a doctor or buy medicine when they need to. Solomon, one of the oldest in the group, is in second Year University in Makelle - such is the impact of this very humble work in one of the poorest parts of Ethiopia. Details about the fundraiser: Where: Philanthropic Society of Kaloneri Siatista aka Kaloneri Hall. 81 Atherton Road, Oakleigh When: Sunday 16th June, 2013 Time: Starting at 1 pm sharp Fast becoming a tradition, I will have a great display of Ethiopian cultural items; put on a traditional coffee ceremony; have different traditional dresses for little (and big!) girls to dress up in; and will provide light refreshments and sweet Greek delicacies. There will also be yummy Ethiopian food for people to sample. In addition to wonderful raffle prizes, this year I have also decided to sell and/or auction a select few Ethiopian cultural items like crosses and icons. Given the popularity of such things, I figured it was a good way to make some extra money for the Orphans. Please come along with your family and tell all your friends!! The more the merrier… If you can, bring a plate of something for all of us to share. As many of you know, my mother recently went into Aged Care. In the past I always relied on my parent’s help in organizing and running Orphan fundraising events. As they age, this is no longer possible, so any help that each and every one of you can provide in pulling this event together is more than appreciated. Please let me know if you will be joining us for a great afternoon of fun for a very worthy group of children in Tigray, Ethiopia Maria Strintzos
