GL: Ive been working the Oso landslide as a senior chaplain with the National Guard and have had two young chaplains working with the medical examiners office and search and recovery. I wish I could be on the pile with them, but with rank comes distance from the action, unfortunately. However, these young men, and their assistants, bore the brunt of the first week of chaos and bodies - men, women and children - and the trauma has been taking its toll. Please lift them up in prayer, along with the rest of the search and extraction teams, those working with the medical examiner to identify remains and the families of those mourning and still searching for loved ones lost. Pray especially for healing in the hearts and minds of these young men and women who are taking on the wounds of so many, engaging in incarnational ministry on the front lines. Specifically right now, they need sleep, renewed minds, and particularly the strength to return home in a few days to reunite with spouses and children while healing.
