GLORIA STEINEM is TRANSMISOGYNIST. and she didnt listen when i told her so everyone at the talk tonight, please be aware that her statements about trans women in the feminist movement were completely wrong. trans women do not take over feminist spaces, they BELONG in those spaces as women and are often ERASED and SHUT OUT from them. trans men should not be in womens spaces -- they certainly dont need their voices amplified. i tried to call ms. steinem out during the q&a session so that the toxic ideas she perpetuated could be shut down before people in the audience internalized them -- but i just barely didnt get the chance to speak. i came up to her afterwards to educate her and ask her to not repeat these ideas in further talks -- and she gave me bullshit about oh, thats just what /shes/ seen in feminism. as if she hadnt made complete generalizations about trans womanhood. also apparently me being nonbinary is helpful. because my identity is a political statement. of course
