GOMBE: APC STAKEHOLDERS THREATEN TO FACTIONAlIZE THE PARTY OVER GOJE. Stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State have threatened to form a parallel interim executive committee of the party if the party’s national leadership does not stop the leader of the party in the state, Senator Danjuma Goje from taking control of the party in the state. The stakeholders while outlining the necessary steps to be taken by the national secretariat of the party for the APC to move forward in the state, said there is a need for a reconciliation committee to be set up so as to reconcile other stakeholders with Goje before members of the party can unite to achieve a common goal. One of the leaders of the group, Muhammed S. Pantami, who spoke with Daily Trust yesterday, said the national secretariat of the party should follow the example set by Adamawa State chapter of the party which reconciled all aggrieved members before appointing an interim committee from the legacy parties to run the affairs of the party in the state. The stakeholders said this is necessary to avoid a situation where one person would impose his will on the party while leaving out those that have struggled to put the party together in the state. He said a situation where members of the legacy parties that formed the APC were left behind in the constitution of the interim exco would not augur well for the party saying as founders of the party, they must be accommodated in the exco for the party. “The newly constituted party officials should come from the legacy parties particularly CPC, ANPP,ACN and APGA in that order from state administrative level down to ward level. Failure to do that will compel us to mobilize our teeming supporters to factionalise the party by opening our state secretariat and constitute our own party executives. “We are calling on the national body of the APC to reconcile us with him due to the atrocities he meted to us while he was in PDP, failure to do that would result in the resistance to his leadership, so the earlier they intervene the better”, he said
