GOOD QUESTIONS FOR CANADIANS – DO YOU HAVE THE ANSWERS ? These questions were asked this week by Canadians – • - does anyone know the reason why the majority of Canadian SPCAs & Humane Societies do not work together? Why do the SPCAS & Humane Societies, in Canada, not transfer animals to each other? Why are local animal controls not able to work with SPCAS & Humane Societies? How do we allow over 11,000 dogs & cats to be transferred, from shelters; to research facilities & universities? How many dogs are wounded or killed in Canadian dog shoots? Why does Canada still have gas chambers in many shelters? AND NOW FOR A FEW QUESTIONS OF OUR OWN – do YOU have the answers ? ………………. Why does Canada have softer requirements for domestic pets (dogs & cats) to enter Canada – softer than most countries (UK, Australia , Germany & other EU countries) & why aren’t our existing requirements enforced ? Why are there no published requirements for domestic pet transporters, i.e. Commercial Airlines to follow within Canada for the transportation of companion animals – dogs & cats ? and why don’t commercial airlines check health certificates before flying pets in Canada ? – they ask but don’t check…..why not expect a fit to fly letter signed by a Canadian Vet for every pet flown in Canada ? why not be proactive & prevent the risks of infectious disease transmitted - pet to human & pet to pet . Why don’t Canadian groups tasked with ‘Animal Welfare’ form a joint collaboration to address the risks & procedures required , related to the movement of dogs & cats into Canada ( the world’s dog over population) & across Canada & our problems related to enforcing our existing requirements. A collaboration involving Canada’s Veterinary Medical Association, C.F.I.A., CBSA, Health Canada, Humane Societies (CFHS) and Rescues and CKC . Why doesn’t Stats Canada, CFIA & CBSA record stats related to domestic pets – no one agency records the number of homeless pets in Canada or the numbers entering Canada. If we recorded the country of origin ,their arrival & their destination this could be useful if the originating country suffered an infectious disease outbreak – we could notify the provinces involved. Why don’t Canadian Recues form a group like the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS)- it would simplify discussions for everything related to rescues. We can only guess or estimate that there are approximately 300 rescues in Canada – there are no records of the numbers of rescues and no standards set provincially or federally. AGENCIES WHO SHOULD BE MONITORING COMPANION ANIMALS ARE NOT – especially the CFIA & CBSA . There are many emerging diseases that animals carry and transmit that people need to be made aware of. CFIA has turned a blind eye to the importation of dogs/cats - what else are they turning a blind eye to in our food chain? https://thedodo/community/JacobKrushel/5-completely-insane-attempts-t-579690483.html?xrs=Dodo_FB
