Game Report - Div 5 This weeks match saw the mighty fighting hawks travel to the friendly confines at Flinders Uni and to take on this years crop of recently arrived boat people. With visas stamped and fishing rods packed away the flinderners took the field with puzzled looks on faces after the hawks pre game ‘word of the day’ was yelled. With normal word conjurer Jules Smith missing on fishing assignment off the Pt Noarlunga reef the duties were handed to the turtle smuggling veteran DB who managed to come up with ‘WAJINA’ as the pre game cursor (apparently its how you pronounce that womans part in boat people tongue). Anyways the game got under way with Flinders stalwart Pottsy going off for the locals chucking his usual variety of change up / splitty / forky / knuckly pitches that all basically look the same but effective. In response the Peregrine Parkers had Whyalla born and bredder Leigh ‘ Rainman, Kmart undies, Hip Hip and a few others..’ Raymond doing the business off the hill in what turned out to be a fantastic outing with both ball and bat. In what ended up being a fairly low scoring game the hawks came out with a 6-0 victory that could have been a lot better except for the 27 runners or so left on base.. Other good performers for the good guys came from the teams only siblings- Justin ‘no signals please Johnno’ and Glen ‘Im going 5 for 5 today..not’ Evans who both batted and fielded well. Chris ‘caterpillar lip’ Harris and Benny ‘whippy wannabe’ Black also playing their part well for the game. All up a good result although a few more runs would have topped things off nicely.
