Gary D. Newsome, age 54, became our President and Chief Executive Officer and a director in September 2008. From early 1998 until September 2008, Mr. Newsome was employed by Community Health Systems, Inc. He joined Community Health Systems, Inc. as a Group Vice President and by the end of his tenure with the company he was a Division President with responsibility for hospitals in Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia. Mr. Newsome previously held management positions with us from June 1993 to March 1998, including Divisional Vice President, Assistant Vice President/Operations and Group Operations Vice President.
