Geelani expresses pleasure over poll-boycott by Pandith, Sikh living in Anantnag =>Expressing pleasure over election boycott by Kashmiri Pandith and Sikh communities for Anantnag seat, hardliner Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that due to long pending Kashmir dispute, Kashmiris, irrespective of their religion, are trapped in a hostile living environment in the state. Geelani said that the solution of Kashmir dispute should be on the basses of right to self-determination in which every individual of the state from Ladakh, Jammu, Kashmir, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan - irrespective of his or her religion - should have a say. Decision of Pandith and Sikh brothers to support the Muslim brothers in election boycott has proven that the Kashmir dispute is not any communal issue, Geelani claimed This is the issue of future of 13 million people including the minorities of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhists and Christen brothers, he added. India has forcibly occupied this region with its military might and is back-tracking its promises including the promises of plebiscites to be held in Jammu and Kashmir, which India has made in at national as well international forums, he alleged. Geelani further said, The minorities of Jammu and Kashmir are our brothers and they are like our body parts and we will never leave them alone at any situation and in anyway. While terming the expressions of the Kashmiri Pandith residing in Anantnag, as a token of pleasure for him, Geelani said that I would have visited them many times, if the government had not kept me continuously under house arrest from 2010.
