Gene Therapy Trial - 18 months on. Just got back from our 14th visit to Oxford and I am pleased to report that all seems to be well. I can actually read 1 more line on the sight chart with the treated eye than I could before the operation. There has been some deterioration in the untreated eye since the operation, but this is to be expected as the condition progresses. The most important thing is that the treated eye appears to be stable. There is still a lot of work for the clever people to complete with regards to the surgical process and the necessary dosage, and we still dont know if the effects will be permanent, but the signs are all positive. Along with the trials that are being run in the US and Canada, there are plans to add a location in Germany, There will be a great deal of data collected regarding CHM through this process which can only be a good thing for the future. Exciting times...
