George and the staff spend 3 hours at the vet yesterday. George was seen by both an internal medicine specialist and his dermatologist/allergist. We are still waiting for the results from his bloodwork (including thyroid tests). Georges abdominal ultrasound did show mildly thickened small intestines and a prominent mesenteric lymph node. This may represent nonspecific low grade enteritis or intestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease or less likely intestinal lymphoma. The liver appeared normal on the ultrasound. Depending on what the bloodwork shows, and whether he continues to gain weight or not - we may follow up with an endoscopy and more specific bloodwork for liver and kidneys that has to be done after fasting. He DID finally start gaining some weight late last week, 2 weeks after being taken off the steroids - so that is good news. Hopefully that will continue. George was such a brave boy yesterday, and now he seems back to normal - happy to be home. He does have a bikini wax though.....
