Georgies story~~ about 4 years ago I decided I wanted to be a foster for JCCare, a week later I was asked if I could pick up a foster in Athens Ga. ( 5 hours away). He was at a high kill shelter and they would not release him to a rescue group, so I went and paid his $50.00 and picked him up. He was in terrible shape, he had a terrible cough, his fur was falling out, he was skin and bones and he was blind in one eye. when we got home we turned him loose in the back yard and he would not stop running, seems like he had a smile on his face because he was FREE. His cough got worse that night and we took him in to see a vet the next day and was told he had kennel cough and for us to keep him away from our dogs, so in a crate he went. The following Monday we took him in to see our vet and found out that he was heart worm positive and had a grade 3 heart murmur. My vet felt he would not make it through the normal treatment for heart worms so he wanted to try a new treatment where he would take a heartgard pill every 15 day and every other week he would be on antibiotic for a week. Well 6 months later he was heart worm free and in great shape!! time for him to be adopted! Well you know I could not let him go after all of this, so that Christmas I told my husband I wanted Georgie for my Christmas present:-) so that is how we became foster failures!!! Forgot about his eye, Dr. said he had been hit so hard in his eye it was compressed and he was totally blind in that eye, that is ok he can see everything he needs to see. He got his name when I posted on JCCare web page asking for help naming him, wish I could remember who came up with his name Georgie, because he is from Georgia!!! So that is how Georgie is my baby. Just thought yall might want t know his story.
