Get ready...........................for namo namo NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha election will be spread over nine days starting April 7 and ending May 12 and the vote count will take place across India May 16, the Election Commission announced Wednesday. Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath said the polling dates would be April 7, 9, 10, 12, 17, 24 and 30 and May 7 and 12. Sampath said simultaneous assembly elections would be held in Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The use of money power during polling is a matter of concern for the EC, Sampath said. Adequate security arrangements will be made to ensure that voters are not intimidated by anyone, he said. Observers will be deployed across India. Different category observers will be deployed. The electorate in the elections will be 81.4 crore, 10 crore more than the last general elections. 10% of electorate will be casting their votes for the first time. These voters can swing the election results. A first in the Lok Sabha elections for the voters will be the introduction of “None of the Above” (NOTA) option. All major players in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls were born post Independence. Sampath announced that the election process will be completed before the monsoon arrives. He also said that the schedule for polling have been laid out to ensure it wont affect school and college examinations across the country. The EC commissioner also said that special camps will be organised in all polling booths across the country. Here, the voters can confirm their names. The voters can get themselves enrolled on March 9, Sampath announced. The polling stations - about 9,30,000 - have been set up across India, more than 12% in the 2009 elections.
