Ghana striker Yakubu eases fears about Orlando Pirates delay Ghana and AshGold striker Yakubu Mohammed Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed explains why he hasn’t signed with Orlando Pirates despite successfully completing his medical AshantiGold and Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed finally went public about his proposed move to Orlando Pirates. Yakubu confirmed that he successfully passed his medical with the Buccaneers a week ago, and that he requested time off to focus on the national team, as the Black Stars were preparing themselves for the CHAN qualifier match against Benin. “I had my medicals with Pirates and immediately left for Ghana on Monday because the local Black Stars management Committee requested I join the team for the CHAN qualifier against Benin which just got cancelled,” Yakubu told footyGhana. The 23-year-old Yakubu also confirmed that he is definitely coming back to South Africa to join Pirates despite interest from a few PSL teams. “As far as I’m concerned I have no reservations about joining Pirates. I asked to be allowed some days to prepare myself to join the team who began pre-season this week. “AshantiGold have consented to my move so what’s left is for me to return to Johannesburg in the coming days, conclude my personal terms, put pen to paper then start life at Pirates,” he concluded. Yakubu netted 14 times for AshGold this past season, and he will be hoping for more goals should he finally join the Sea Robbers.
