Give Him Attention! Text: Ezekiel 3:22-27 Key Verse: “And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee” (Ezekiel 3:22). One of the strongest factors identified as responsible for the failure of most relationships is a breakdown in communication. This problem has become more rife today as our world appears to become more obsessed with itself. In the bid to meet the ever-increasing challenges of life, individuals are becoming busier and engrossed with their works. Spouses have less time to talk with one another;children can no longer get the needed attention from their parents; leaders appear to be too much in a hurry to have the time to clearly communicate their visions and goals to their subordinates, etc. These result in high rate of divorce, delinquency among juveniles, loss of trust, misunderstandings and failures in our world today. Unfortunately, this trend has rubbed off on the spiritual lives of many believers. Caught in the rat-race, they have become so busy that it is becoming more difficult for God to get their attention and communicate His divine plan and vision to them. To get Ezekiel’s attention and make him see the vision He had for him. God had to tell him to leave where he was and get to the plain. Obviously, God wanted him to move on to the place where he would have no distractions and nothing to obscure and obstruct his view, How much of your attention does God have? Is he able to speak to you all He has in mind for you? This will not be possible as long as we are so busy with ourselves and hardly have the time to withdraw to the “plain” of quiet time and personal devotion. Many no longer have the time for Bible Study, prayer meetings, retreats and other Christian conventions, let alone have time to observe personal retreats. No wonder many believers no longer hear the voice of God and receive divine guidance and instructions regarding their lives, marriages, careers and ministries. Give yourself a break; get to the plain and let God speak His mind to you. Thought of the day: A care-free Christian easily schedules God out of his life.
