Give and it will be given to to you. A good measure, pressed down, - TopicsExpress

Give and it will be given to to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Luke 6:38 NIV Im On A Fixed Income! We have finally made it into the Thanksgiving month and Im still seeing people having a problem with sharing. Isnt it funny how some always have their hands out to receive, but never stretched out to give. Here is there favorite saying, I would give but Im on a fixed income. As I meditated on these words, it came to me that were all on a fixed income, we fix our income to meet the needs we want met. But if I read my bible correctly, I do believe that in Deuteronomy 8:18 were instructed to remember the Lord our God, for it is he that gives us power to get wealth. I dont think that we serve a good thatll allow us to give to the point that he would leave us powerless to receive more or to receive when its returned to our laps. I also believe in my reading of Philippians 4:19 we find these words, And my God shall supply all our needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Therefore since he has supplied us, we who are strong physically and spiritually, hes depending on us to me likeminded as he; and add to those who are not. In our text one writer says this is a sermon that Jesus preached to his disciples and the multitude, instructing them in their duty both to God and man. He preached on blessings and woes, love for enemies, and judging others just to name a few. So since we say that were Jesus disciples this word also applies to us. Let us not be so fixed with our blessings (income) that Jesus would have to say woe to us, because we have no love for enemies, and always being judgemental of whom we will help. Because the text does say, it will return a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will it be poured back in your lap. All of these analogies speaks loudly of overflow and it want flow to a closed hands. Please also notice it didnt say that we would receive back from whom we have giving. We must understand there will be those in need that cant repay. In times like these, we should think back to John 3:16. For God gave what no one is capable of repaying. Jesus assured all givers in our text, if we give that we should make room in your lap. To my clients thats reading this, you know what time it is. I will be selling dollar tickets again giving away five free haircuts. Proceeds will go towards a needy family for Christmas. Please stop by and get yours. Thought for today: what has been fixed can be redone!
