Give thanks to IMC Weekendschool for the wonderful work they do: broadening the horizons and stimulating the skills and self-confidence of children from disadvantaged districts by teaching them every Sunday! I am so happy that I was given the opportunity to give an anthropology class for this special school yesterday! My wonderful students understood that our perspectives and socialization influence the way we look at the world and each other. That what you can see in an image is different from what you feel from it. They were respectful towards each other when sharing personal stories attached to meaningful objects they brought from home. They worked together to express a topic in a photograph and could communicate their interpretations so well. I heard statements of equality and felt they grasped the human essence of being simultaneously unique and the same. They were so eager to learn. Teaching them gave me inspiration and hope for a more peaceful future. Gratitude and respect for all the people who make this possible every week throughout the country! See you next week brothers and sisters (of all ages)!
