Global Market Update November 25, 2013 • Asian bourses rose on positive political and economic news from the U.S. The Senate Banking Committee voted to approve Janet Yellen’s nomination to become the Fed Chief next year — a move considered positive for the markets as she is unlikely to push for tapering aggressively. Today (as on Monday), Asian shares kicked off the week mostly higher following a strong finish on Wall Street and after Iran agreed to limit its nuclear program in exchange for relief from some sanctions. • European equities ended higher, as confidence about the state of the global economy heightened following positive U.S. data. • U.S. stocks gained with the S&P 500 recording its first close above 1,800 and the Dow Jones posting its longest weekly win streak in nearly three years, as positive economic reports countered worries about the Federal Reserve curbing stimulus as early as December.
