God actually enjoys His relationship with us, even in our weakness. Of course, that is the doctrine of grace. He not only enjoys us after we mature, He enjoys us while we are in the process of maturing. That is what gives us courage to keep moving forward—He enjoys us! Now just because He enjoys us does not mean He approves of everything we are doing. Some people get confused because when they hear that God enjoys them, they think He approves of everything they are doing. He can disapprove an area in our life, but still enjoy us as a person. When there are areas in our life that He does not approve of, because He jealously yearns for us, He doesn’t let us go. He hems us in and gets our attention. Again, the Lord can be displeased with an area, but enjoy the person. Beloved, when we feel enjoyed, we run to Him; we do not run from Him in our struggle. This was one of the most significant, life-changing points of understanding that the Lord helped me with some years ago, when I began to understand He actually likes me. Then we do not want to run from Him, hide from Him, and come up with Bible verses to validate living in carnality. We want to run to Him because we have this understanding He really likes us.
